What We Believe

The following is an abbreviated version of our statement of faith. For the full statement (along with Scripture references), see our church constitution.

1.    We believe that the Bible is the verbally and plenarily inspired Word of God, fully inerrant in the original autographs and providentially preserved to the present day in the completed Canon of sixty-six books.

2.    We believe in the one true and living God, who eternally exists in three coequal, coeternal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each of whom possesses the same nature, attributes, perfection, power, and glory.

3.    We believe in the true manhood and deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, the only Savior of mankind, who satisfied the righteous demands of the law, died a substitutionary death, rose bodily from the tomb after three days, and ascended to heaven on a cloud in the presence of witnesses.

4.    We believe in the Holy Spirit, who eternally co-exists with the Father and the Son. We believe that the sign gifts (such as prophecy and speaking in tongues) authenticated the ministry and message of the apostles but have ceased now that the Canon of Scripture is complete.

5.    We believe that man was created in God’s image by the direct act of God. We believe that thanks to Adam’s willful sin, all men are sinners by nature and choice.

6.    We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men: the saved to eternal life and the unsaved to everlasting punishment. We believe that at the moment of death, the soul of a believer immediately enters the presence of the Lord in heaven, while the soul of an unbeliever immediately enters hell, a place of conscious torment.

7.    We believe that salvation is the gracious act of God and that justification is by faith alone. We believe that an individual is saved when he repents of sin and trusts Jesus Christ as Savior.

8.    We believe that the local church is governed as an autonomous body under the headship of Christ.

9.    We believe in two church ordinances, believers’ baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper, neither of which imparts saving grace to its participants.

10.    We believe in the necessity of both personal and ecclesiastical separation, the latter of which includes separation from both apostates and disobedient brethren.

11.    We believe in a dispensational approach to biblical hermeneutics and in a pre-tribulational, pre-millennial eschatology.

12.    We believe that that women may not teach men or exercise authority over them in the local church.

13.    We believe that God created the universe and all that is in it in six literal, twenty-four hour days.

14.    We believe that God forbids homosexuality, bisexuality, incest, pornography, premarital sex, transgenderism, pedophilia, and all other sexual activity outside of marriage between a man and a woman.

15.    We believe that human life begins at conception and that abortion and euthanasia constitute the murder of a living human person.

16.    We reject the recreational use of alcohol or other intoxicating or mind-altering substances.

17.    We believe that Christians are prohibited from bringing civil lawsuits against other Christians or the church to resolve personal disputes.

18.    We reject Christian music of the popular culture (Christian rock, Contemporary Christian Music, etc.) as inappropriate for church use.
